IT Internships in Jaffna: A Student's Guide
Every year, students and new graduates across the Northern Province search for IT internships in Jaffna:...
How much does a website cost in Sri Lanka? For a small business website built by a professional company, expect roughly Rs 80,000 to Rs 180,000. A simple one-page site can cost less, and an online store or custom web application costs considerably more. The figures in this guide come from the same pricing model that powers our project cost estimator, so you can check any of them against your own project in a couple of minutes.
These are the starting ranges our estimator uses for a growing business with a template-based design and a standard timeline.
| Type of website | Typical range | Typical timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page (single page) | Rs 40,000 - 90,000 | 1-2 weeks |
| Business website (1-5 pages) | Rs 80,000 - 180,000 | 3-5 weeks |
| Business website (6-15 pages) | Rs 120,000 - 270,000 | 4-6 weeks |
| E-commerce store | Rs 180,000 - 450,000 | 5-9 weeks |
| Web application / custom software | Rs 300,000 - 900,000 | 6-14 weeks |
Mobile apps are priced separately, starting from about Rs 350,000 for one platform. See our app development cost guide, and for business systems, the custom software cost guide.
More pages mean more design, content and testing. Moving from 5 to 15 pages typically adds Rs 40,000 to 90,000.
A well-chosen template, adapted to your brand, is the most affordable option and is right for many small businesses. A semi-custom design adds around 25 percent; a fully custom design, built from scratch around your brand, adds around 60 percent.
Each feature is real work. These are the add-on ranges in our estimator:
A startup with a small budget does not need the same build as a large organisation. Our estimator applies a lower rate (about 30 percent less) for SMEs and startups, and a higher one for enterprise projects that need more planning, documentation and testing.
Need it urgently? A rush timeline shortens delivery by about a third but adds around 20 percent, because the team has to reschedule other work.
A Jaffna business wants a 10-page website in Tamil and English with a semi-custom design:
Estimated total: about Rs 181,000 to Rs 413,000, delivered in roughly 4 to 6 weeks. The final figure depends on the content, the number of design rounds and the exact features.
You will find websites offered for Rs 20,000 or less. Sometimes that is fine for a very simple page. Before you accept, check what is missing: is the domain in your name, is content management included, will the site work well on phones, who fixes it when it breaks, and do you get the logins? A low price that leaves you unable to update or move your own website is not a saving.
Every project is different. Our free project cost estimator lets you pick your website type, pages, design level and features and shows an instant LKR range.
